The Utah Jazz scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference Tuesday at the Salt Palace to officially announce new contracts for star players Karl Malone and John Stockton. Details were not available at press time.

Malone, who was about to begin the third year of a 10-year, $18 million pact, will now make about $24 million over the next eight years. He and owner Larry H. Miller worked out the deal about a week ago.Stockton was beginning the third year of an eight-year, $10 million contract. Last year he made about $1.1 million, but one report had him only seventh on the pay scale for NBA point guards.
