Claude Viron Argyle, 89, of Salt Lake City, died at his home on September 23, 1990, of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 26, 1901, at Lake Shore, Utah, to Lorenzo and Emily Manwill Argyle. He married LuDean Pehrson on Jan. 17, 1942, in Elko, Nevada; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb. 6, 1945.He was employed as a clerk for the Rio Grande Railroad and retired in 1968 after 39 years of service. He was an active member of LDS Church, as a High Priest in the Grant 12th Ward and had served a stake mission. His great love was hunting and fishing.

He is survived by: His wife, LuDean, of Salt Lake City; four sons, Claude "Corky" and wife, Eva Argyle, Salt Lake City; Clifford and wife, Barbara Argyle, Sunset, Utah; Viron and wife, Melodie Argyle, Sandy; Bruce and wife, Judy Argyle, West Valley; three daughters, Jeanne and husband, Kurt Lofgren, Santaquin; Pauline and Lee Okelberry, Goshen; Valene Doyle, Kearns; 33 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren: four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virgie Wilson, Oakland, California.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Leland (Yvonne) Merrill, two grandsons, Kevin Modtland and Baby Argyle, a great-granddaughter, Ashley Morris, and four brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 27, 1990, at 11 a.m. at the Grant 12th LDS Ward, 3400 So. 1100 East. Friends may call at the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 East.
