Authorities in Bejing are refusing to allow former Cambodia ruler Pol Pot to leave China, where the leader of the murderous Khmer Rouge regime is hospitalized for unspecified treatment, a magazine reported.

The August edition of the Chinese-language Cheng Ming magazine, seen Monday, also said China will offer political asylum to Pol Pot.While Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia from 1975-78, hundreds of thousands of people died in vast slave-labor camps and execution chambers as the government attempted to turn the country into a primitive agrarian society.
