The City Council will consider replacing its recently modified cable television ordinance with a more comprehensive ordinance during its meeting Tuesday.
The proposed ordinance is based on suggestions made by a consultant hired by the city to review TCI's cable television system in Provo. It addresses such concerns as franchise fees, operation procedures, insurance, consumer protection, etc.The council will also hear a -progress report on Academy Square.
It will also consider four recommendations from the Planning Commission. Brigham Young University is requesting rezoning of property at 200 E. 800 North from high density residential to public facilities zone. The university is also requesting that property at 2555 North University Avenue be given the same zone designation.
The planning staff has proposed two ordinance amendments for council consideration. One ordinance modifies trash storage regulations, the other requires property owners to allow a general utility easement along front property lines.
At the end of the meeting the public will have an opportunity to ask the mayor and council questions. Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 351 W. Center St. Meetings begin at 7 p.m.
