Sen. William Proxmire, best known for his Golden Fleece Awards given to federal government offices that grossly overspend, will speak Thursday, Sept. 27, at Weber State College.

Proxmire's speech begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Austad Auditorium of the Browning Center for the Performing Arts and is sponsored by the Associated Students of Weber State.Proxmire was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1957 and served until his retirement in 1989.

His lecture at Weber State is free, and the public is invited.
