Two months after he bought it, Donald Trump sold the Amels BV shipyard, which had been building him the largest yacht in the world, shipyard officials said Monday.

Trump was forced to sell Amels because of financial troubles afflicting his investment empire, Amels bookkeeper Andries Bosma said.Bosma said the Makkum, Netherlands, shipyard was sold for an undisclosed amount in late July to Peter Kutell, an American businessman.

Bosma declined to say why the announcement of the sale was withheld until Monday.

Earlier this year, Trump halted construction of the Trump Princess II, a $230 million yacht being built at Amels.
