A 4-year-old girl who ran into the side of a pickup truck remains in critical condition with head and leg injuries at Primary Children's Medical Center.
Destiny Deshler, Murray, was flown by Life Flight helicopter to the hospital after the 6 p.m. accident at 815 E. 4800 South on Thursday.Deshler, who lives near the accident site, ran into the side of a moving westbound pickup driven by William Nate, 29, Riverton, police said.
A 6-year-old friend of the victim had already crossed the street and was waving for Deshler to follow when the accident occurred.
Murray police said Nate was driving slowly because the sun was in his eyes.
"The driver did exercise caution. He was doing everything right," Murray Officer Bob Evans said.
Evans said Nate didn't see the child until she ran into the front fender of his truck on the driver's side.
