James A. Knecht, passed away September 21, 1990, in a Salt Lake Hospital.

Born December 8, 1910, Brooklyn, New York, to James S. and Isabella Hewitt Knecht. married Mary Holbrook of Bountiful, Utah, June 3, 1933; solemnized on April 16, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was employed as a salesman for National Twist Drill and Tool Co. for 28 years and was the New York Regional Sales Manager. He retired January 1, 1971 and moved to Utah. Active High Priest of the LDS Church, he has served in many positions, including, New York Stake Missionary President, Seventy's Quorum Presidency, New Jersey Stake High Council, and five Stake Missions. He was our kind and gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, whom we will miss greatly.James is survived by his wife, Mary, Orem; six sons, James, Jr. and wife Sandra, Bishop GA, Richard and wife Dorothy, Hovland, MN, Wayne and wife Viola, Sandy, Stephen and wife Darlene, Payson, Charles and wife Linda, Orem, and David and wife Vickie, Provo; 27 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara; a brother, William; and three sisters, Edna, Emily and Lucille.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25th, 11:00 a.m. in the Sunset Heights Second Ward, 1100 West 600 So., Orem, Utah, with Bishop Mark Woods officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel (Salt Lake City).
