Hazel Marie Mikels Gibbs, age 93, a long time resident of Pocatello, died Thursday, September 20, 1990 in Hillcrest Haven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Gibbs was born January 7, 1897 in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Cyrus Everett and Mary Ann Breedlove Mikels. She attended school in Kokomo and made her home there. In 1920 she moved to Provo, Utah, a year later she moved to Logan, Utah, and was married there to William Golden Zundel Gibbs, in the Logan LDS Temple, October 25, 1922. Mr. Gibbs preceded her in death, May 7, 1983. They came to Pocatello and resided there for several years, then in Tyhee until 1940, when they returned to Pocatello. She was a devout Latter Day Saint. She devoted her adult life to her church, family and friends. She served as President of Relief Society, President and Counselor in Sunday School, Primary President, Stake Missionary, Missionary in the Indiana Kentucky Mission, 1974-75. Her keen interest and devotion to geneology touched her family, friends and church associates. She and her husband made it a practice to regularly attend temple sessions.Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Alvin (Mary Elizabeth) Wardle, Logan, Utah; two grandchildren, Lindalee Edwards, Newark, Calif.; John Wardle, Wilbur, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Bean, Circleville, Utah. Preceded in death by a son, William Albert Gibbs, who died as an infant, and one brother.

Funeral services, Monday, 11 a.m., September 24, 1990 in the Manning Funeral Chapel, 510 No. 12th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho, with Bishop David Horrocks, LDS 4th Ward officating. The family will receive friends, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Monday, at Manning Chapel. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery.
