Salt Lake police are investigating reports that a 13-year-old girl was raped by a 15-year-old boy in the halls of a junior high school during their lunch hour.

The girl told police that the suspect grabbed her while she was on her way to lunch Wednesday and pulled her down the hallway to a nearby boys' gymnasium. He is accused forced her to the floor and then raping her."I'm as alarmed as anyone," said Hillcrest Jr. High principal Scott Bowles, when asked about the incident Friday. He said there was supervision in the lunch room but said the two students were in a remote area where there was no supervision.

The girl reportedly told a teacher about the incident the next day, and then she and the suspect met with the principal. The police report said Bowles then informed the girl's mother of the situation and said "she could call the police if she wanted to."

Bowles said "there was definitely a question" about the facts surrounding the incident. "I am eager to see the police investigation conducted, though," he said.
