Southern Utah will be looking for its second straight victory when it takes on an old rival in Mesa State tonight.

The Thunderbirds and Mavericks, who used to play in the Rocky Mountain Conference together, meet at Stocker Stadium in a 7 p.m. contest. The 1-2 T-Birds, who hold an 8-5-1 edge in the series, don't know which Mesa team they'll be facing tonight. The Mavericks crushed New Mexico Highlands in the first game 76-16, but lost to Cameron University of Lawton, Okla., 24-21 last week.

"It will be a tough game for us," said SU Coach Jack Bishop. "But they are a team with which we should match up well."

An interesting sidelight to the game - Lenny Walterscheid, perhaps the most famous name in Southern Utah history (defensive back with Chicago Bears), is an assistant coach for Mesa.
