The United Way of Utah County will kick off its 27th annual campaign with a luncheon at noon Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the Provo Excelsior Hotel.

Guest speaker at the event will be Vanda Brown, a 34-year-old Provo woman who benefits from the services offered by the Family Support and Treatment Center, a United Way-funded agency.Monty Scott, United Way's director of resource development, said that the money raised by the United Way goes to a variety of local charities who support the needs of the people in Utah County. Donors can specify which charity will receive their contributions.

"Our goal is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another," Scott said.
