On Friday AT&T began offering free fax service to family and friends of troops in the Persian Gulf.

Intended to boost military morale, The Desert Fax service allows loved ones in the United States to send a one-page greeting from any AT&T Phone Centers.The messages are transmitted electronically, reaching the Persian Gulf within minutes. Within 48 hours of receiving the fax, Military Postal Service will deliver the message at regular mail calls, a spokesman said.
