Dr. Stephen D. Ratcliffe has been appointed medical director of the Utah Physician Assistant Program in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine.
Ratcliffe, an assistant professor of family and preventive medicine since 1984, will serve as director on a part-time basis. He's a board-certified family physician.The U.'s physician assistant program graduates 24 mid-level primary care providers in a 20- to 24-month period, and is focused on alleviating the physician shortage in rural and underserved areas of the Intermountain West.
Before this appointment, Ratcliffe served as medical director of the Salt Lake Community Health Centers Inc. for five years. He will continue to serve that group as family physician and associate medical director for program development.
