The professionals defeated the amateurs in the Browning Challenge Cup golf matches at Park Meadows Golf Course Thursday.
Sixteen of Utah's top professional golfers teamed to defeat 16 top amateurs in the annual competition. The final score was 591/2 to 361/2 in a format similar to that used in the Ryder Cup matches.In the morning portion, which featured alternate stroke play, the amateurs forged a 15-9 lead behind the play of Kurt Bosen, Jack Ridd and Ken Cromwell.
But the pros stormed back in the afternoon as Bruce Brockbank and Henry White got things started with a 9-0 drubbing of BYU golfers Ryan Rhees and Dean Wilson in the individual and best ball play.
Other pros who won both morning and afternoon matches included Lynn Landgren, Mack Christensen, Brad Stone and Mike Bicker.
