A Pleasant Grove man has been convicted of attempted manslaughter for shooting another man in the buttocks.
Christopher Bevard, 27, faces sentencing for the third-degree felony Oct. 12 before Judge Cullen Y. Christensen in 4th District Court. He could be sentenced to five years in prison.A jury found Bevard guilty of attempted manslaughter last week, instead of the higher charge of attempted criminal homicide, a second-degree felony. The jury ruled that Bevard shot Richard Houston following an argument Feb. 10, which included Houston's former wife.
Houston was shot from a distance of 30 yards with a 12-gauge shotgun, but recovered after suffering internal injuries that required surgery.
