If the Salt Lake County Commission approves the arrangement Wednesday, Shauna Clark will be paid $68,000 by the county as settlement for her $1.2 million sexual harassment suit against the county and former County Attorney Ted Cannon.
More than $35,000 of the settlement will go toward attorney fees. Litigation began in federal court in May 1987. Clark will also receive a letter from the county assuring her that her job as a secretary under the administration of Salt Lake County Attorney David Yocom is secure. In the civil suit, Clark accused Cannon of making lewd comments and gestures toward her and using his supervisory position to intimidate and harass her. The county was included in the suit because other county officials did nothing to stop the harassment, though they knew about it, Clark contended.
