Accidents in Box Elder and Juab counties have claimed three lives since Tuesday.

Killed:Lyle O. Martin, 64, Fruita, Colo.

Patricia A. Weaver, 43, Brigham City.

Barbara Ruth Garza, 35, Brigham City.

A Utah Highway Patrol spokesman said Martin was killed about 3:01 p.m. Tuesday when the truck he was riding in crossed into the oncoming lane and was struck by another vehicle.

Martin's wife, Gladys, was driving the truck, which was pulling a 30-foot travel trailer west on U.S. 50 about 40 miles west of Delta when cross winds caused the truck and trailer to jackknife into the eastbound lane.

The Martin truck was struck by a car driven by Ramsey L. Spoon, 43, Arlington, Texas. Spoon, his wife Nancy, 34, and daughters Jessica, 4, and Cynthia, 9 weeks, were taken to a Delta hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. Gladys Martin was released from Delta Hospital on Wednesday.

Weaver and Garza, who were sisters, were passengers in a car driven by Shauna J. Cole, 30, Brigham City.

The Cole vehicle was traveling west on U-13 about two miles west of Brigham City Wednesday when the car crossed slightly into the eastbound lane. The Highway Patrol report said the driver overcorrected, causing the car to skid sideways and leave the rain-slickened highway before hitting a tree. The car was traveling about 55 mph at the time of the accident, the spokesman said.

Cole was listed in critical condition Thursday at McKay-Dee Medical Center in Ogden.
