Brooke Adams, a Deseret News staff writer for the past two years, has been named bureau chief of the newspaper's

Utah County bureau. She will oversee a staff of five reporters and one photographer.Adams is a 14-year resident of Utah County. She and her husband own a home in Orem, and their three children attend public schools. She is a former managing editor of the Utah County Journal and a past president of the University of Utah chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. The society named her as the U.'s outstanding journalism graduate. She also has done volunteer work for the American Cancer Society.

Adams, 33, has covered Provo City, the Alpine and Provo school districts, Geneva and various other topics during her tenure at the Deseret News. As bureau chief, she will continue to write columns and some news stories.
