The chairman of the International Accounting Standards Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants will be the first speaker for the 14th annual Intermountain Accounting Seminar Thursday, Oct. 4, at Utah State University.
Arthur Wyatt, a partner with Arthur Anderson & Co., will talk about international accounting in the 1990s at 8:45 a.m. in the Eccles Conference Center.The seminar is co-sponsored by the USU's Partners in Business program, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting fraternity.
Other speakers will be John Mullarkey, a former director of the auditing standards division of AICPA and partner with Deloitte & Touche, and Stanley Pylipow, national president of the National Association of Accountants and chief financial officer of Fisher Controls International.
An update of tax law will be discussed at 2 p.m. by a panel including Robert Wenzel, director of the Internal Revenue Service Center in Ogden; Richard Dorigatti, tax partner of Cook Dorigatti & Associates, Logan; and James Byrne, partner in charge of the Price Waterhouse office in Salt Lake City.
Kelly Tate, manager of the Coopers and Lybrand office in Salt Lake City, will close the seminar with a talk on activity-based cost accounting.
