"The Songs of Christmas," a videotape featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, has reached 25,000 sales, according to Al Henderson, vice president and general manager of Video West, the company producing the tape.

"We're pleased but not surprised by the success of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas video. Many consumers are looking for entertainment alternatives that inspire and motivate, especially at Christmas," he said. The 40-minute video was recorded live in the Mormon Tabernacle on Temple Square. Under the direction of Jerold Ottley, the choir sings "Joy to the World," "O Divine Redeemer," "O Holy Night," "Winter Wonderland" and other holiday favorites.

The choir is accompanied by Robert Cundick and John Longhurst on the Tabernacle organ. Instrumental background is provided by a brass percussion ensemble, and a special Christmas message is given by J. Spencer Kinard, choir announcer.
