Richard Allen, a Utah State University faculty member since 1986, was one of 12 international irrigation experts to advise the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization recently at a meeting in Rome, Italy.

Allen met with researchers from nine countries at FAO headquarters in Rome to discuss crop water issues. He said the group addressed the best procedures for estimating irrigation water requirements worldwide and recommended revisions to FAO publications, which are used in planning, designing and managing international irrigation projects.
