Salt Lake police have arrested two men in connection with two unrelated sexual assaults Tuesday.

The first occurred about 5 a.m. when a girl, 14, went to the Avenues home of a man she had met hours earlier on State Street. The man requested sex but she refused. He then threatened her and her family, pushed her to the floor and raped her, said sex crimes Sgt. Roy Wasden. The girl also suffered facial bruises.

Police later arrested a man, 32, and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of forcible rape.

The second assault occurred Wednesday evening at a rock concert in the Salt Palace. A man asked a woman, 21, if he could sit by her. She said yes and he sat down, putting his arm around her and grabbing her. He refused to let go, Wasden said.

Other spectators tried to intervene but the assailant, who was 6 feet 4 inches tall and about 230 pounds, pushed them away.

After a chase and struggle, Salt Palace security guards detained a 25-year-old man and turned him over to police, who booked him into jail for investigation of forcible sexual abuse.
