"A first-class outfit" is the evaluation given the 419th Tactical Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base after a recent inspection by officers of the 12th Air Force's Tactical Air Command.
The Reserve wing received ratings of satisfactory, excellent or outstanding in all areas, said a wing spokesman."You have a great tradition of winning," said Brig. Gen. Lester P. Brown, vice commander of the 12th Air Force. "You've won Gunsmoke (an Air Force flying competition) and every couple of years allow the active (active duty pilots) to win the competition."
Exercises under inspection included air crew extraction, combat turns, in-flight emergency and flight line posting by the 419th Weapon Systems Security Flight.
Col. Forrest S. Winebarger, wing commander, said the ratings recognize the 419th's teamwork.
