The United States and Vietnam appear ready to intensify efforts to search together and account for 1,761 Americans still missing from the Vietnam War, the U.S. Embassy said Thursday.

An embassy statement said experts from both countries meeting over the past four days discussed plans to work "on concerted efforts within the next three months to make significant progress" to resolve the divisive issue.The two sides, which met in Hanoi, reviewed "arrangements for joint investigative, survey and excavation activities" during the period.
