A 17-year-old Salt Lake resident is in serious condition after being struck by lighting in Hobble Creek Canyon about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his grandparents, was camping with his family when lightning knocked him unconscious, said a Utah County sheriff's dispatcher. The boy's parents found him and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which revived him.His parents drove him to the mouth of the canyon, where they were met by a Springville City Ambulance crew. The victim was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for treatment of burns on his legs and lower body. He had been in critical condition Tuesday night.
