A Swiss native trapped for six hours under a collapsed crane in 1985 has settled a lawsuit for nearly $10 million, closing the legal chapter of an ordeal that crushed her legs but did not prevent her from walking again.

The heroic police officer who crawled under the crane and comforted Brigitte Gerney, trapped in the accident three years ago while walking back to work from lunchtime dental appointment, said no amount of money could Gerney for her injuries.
