The Utah Arts Council, which this fiscal year will award more than $900,000 to support arts projects and organizations, is accepting grant applications for 1989.

The deadline for applying is Sept. 1 for those seeking community arts development, technical assistance and challenge grants, said Sherry Waddingham, council grants officer. Applications for funding of arts projects, general support and assistance for literary magazines are due Oct. 1.The council, a division of the state Department of Community and Economic Development, provides grant monies to non-profit, tax-exempt organizations to assist with arts projects that have an impact on individual communities or the entire state.

"All grants must be matched at least dollar-for-dollar with cash from other sources," Waddingham said.
