At least 300 civilian jobs at Hill Air Force Base left vacant because of a hiring freeze will be filled beginning in October, an Air Force spokesman said Monday.

"Between 300 and 350 positions will be refilled beginning with the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1," base spokesman Len Barry said. The Air Force plans to add 5,400 new maintenance jobs in the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, said Tuesday.
