A Utah tribe and a Native American organization are among 27 Rocky Mountain-area groups receiving part of $6.8 million in grants for employment and training programs, Secretary of Labor Ann McLaughlin announced.

The Ute Indian Tribe in eastern Utah received $73,137 under the Job Training Partnership Act and the United Tribes Service Center Inc. in Salt Lake City was awarded $406,945 under the act, McLaughlin said.The funds are designed to promote and improve skills and opportunities for Indians, said Luis Sepulveda, regional administrator for the department's employment and training office in Denver.
