When you're the winning coach of Utah Jazz basketball, you're a "big cheese" in Utah sports. When you're 40,060 pounds of natural Grade A Cheddar from Wisconsin, you're REALLY a big cheese.
On July 23, these two will appear together when Frank Layden, the Jazz coach, meets "Belle of Wisconsin," the world's record mammoth cheddar cheese. The appearances will be at the Food 4 Less store in West Valley City, 3345 S. 4015 West. A brief program will begin at 10 a.m. and include a jazz band and the release of 1,000 cheddary-gold balloons. Belle will be at the store from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Belle measures 20 feet long, 5 feet 8 inches wide and 5 feet 10 inches high. It will be listed in the next "Guinness Book of World Records." Salt Lake residents can see Belle at several other grocery locations through July 29 as part of a 15-month national marketing tour of food stores and special events.
