The aggravated sexual assault case of a young Mormon missionary from Idaho was sent Friday to the Dickson County grand jury, an official said.
General Sessions Judge Durwood Moore made the decision after a preliminary hearing, said Assistant District Attorney General Bob Wilson.Robert D. Campbell, 20, of Aberdeen, Idaho, was released from jail after a church mission official posted his $10,000 bond.
"I feel very confident that he's innocent of the allegations against him," said Mission President David Campbell, who is no relation to the defendant. "We'll stand by him and see what action happens in court."
Campbell was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault involving two children, age 7 and 9. Dickson County sheriff's Sgt. James Thrasher said he interviewed the mother and the state Department of Human Services interviewed the two children before a warrant was issued for the missionary's arrest.
Thrasher said the alleged incidents occurred as Campbell and others watched a videotape at the home of a church member.
