An American Fork man was sentenced Friday to serve time in the Utah State Prison on manslaughter charges stemming from the death of a Pleasant Grove man, who was run over and killed by a pickup last fall.

Frank Gene Powell, 29, was sentenced Friday morning by 4th District Judge Boyd L. Park, who gave Powell an indeterminate sentence of 1-15 years in the state prison.Powell originally was to be tried on second-degree homicide charges - a first-degree felony - in the Nov. 29 death of Glen H. Candland, 20. However, Powell pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a second-degree felony, following plea negotiations before the scheduled trial date.

Candland was run over by a pickup following an early morning argument in front of a southwest Pleasant Grove residence.
