Boyd Eugene "Pete" Peterson

1918 ~ 2007

Boyd Eugene Peterson, member of The Greatest Generation, age 88, died Sunday, September 9, 2007.He was born in Salina, Utah, on November 10, 1918, to Delbert Brewster and Fern Gates Peterson. He married Lola Sorenson on June 6, 1947. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Boyd proudly served in the Navy through World War II and the Korean War for a total of fourteen years. He was a Deep Sea/Underwater Welding Diving Specialist, Chief Shipfitter, Chief Petty Officer, and discharged as a Lieutenant. He was the model military man in stature, work ethic, and integrity.

He worked 31 years for Geneva Steel as a welder, but his greatest love was being in the beautiful Utah mountains. He loved all kinds of hunting and "fishing the creeks".

He raised a large vegetable garden each summer, always sharing with friends and family, and took pride in his yard and flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Lola, of Provo, Utah, who has been his unwavering caregiver; his daughters, Julie (Mike) Stears, of Driggs, Idaho; and Ann (Phil) Hartvigsen, of North Ogden, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Boyd is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sons: Gary and Kent. We all love you, Dad! "Here he lies where he longed to be. Home is the sailor, home from the sea, And the hunter

home from the hill."

Special thanks to the loving care of Physician's Assistant, Heidi Porter, Dr. Charles Dahl, Dr. Richard Parkinson, Berkshire Rehabilitation Center, IHC Hospice, and many ward members and friends.
