Assets of the nation's 443 money market funds increased $276.2 million to $266.61 billion for the week ended Wednesday, according to the Investment Company Institute of Washington.

The slight rise follows an increase of $1.39 billion in the prior week.The Institute reported that assets of general purpose funds advanced $284.2 million to $82.93 billion, institutional funds decreased $310.5 million to $69.21 billion and assets of broker-dealer funds gained $302.5 million to $114.47 billion.
