A Salt Lake girl was raped by a stranger who offered her a ride in his car over the weekend.

The girl, 14, was standing at a bus stop early Saturday when a man stopped his car and asked if she wanted a ride, according to a Salt Lake police report.She accepted and asked to be taken home. Instead, the man drove to a parking lot at Wasatch Springs Park and assaulted her in the car, the report said.

During the assault, she screamed. Two men, who had been sleeping nearby, came to her aid. One broke a window, causing the attacker to let go of the girl, who escaped through the passenger door.

The assailant then fled in the car. He was described as black, about 25 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds. He wore a black Hawaiian shirt and a black baseball hat with a flower on it, the victim told police.

The assailant's car was described as a brown, 1980 Toyota Corolla, with a yellow hood, brown vinyl interior and a broken driver's side window.
