Seven new administrative appointments have been approved by the Davis Board of Education.

The action included appointments of new principals for Viewmont, Bountiful and Davis high schools and the naming of two junior high school principals. In addition, two new curriculum supervisors were named for the central office staff.Paul Waite, who has been acting principal, was named to fill the job permanently at Viewmont High. Waite was named acting principal earlier this year when Nancy Fleming was appointed as an area supervisor in the central office. Waite has been an assistant principal at Viewmont for five years.

Michael Duckworth, who took over as principal at Clearfield High in August, will move to Davis High for the coming school year. Duckworth will replace Steven Ronnenkamp, who was named an assistant superintendent earlier this year. Ronnenkamp will complete the year at Davis before assuming his central office position full time. Duckworth previously served as a junior high principal and vice principal.

Rulon Homer, an assistant principal at Bountiful High since 1975 will take over the top post this fall from retiring Don Perkins.

Jane Muna will be the new principal at Mueller Park Junior High in Bountiful, replacing Matt Galt who is also retiring. Muna has been a teacher and counselor in the district since 1974.

James E. Schmidt will take the top post at Syracuse Junior next fall, replacing Dick Egan, another retiree. Schmidt has been an assistant principal at the school since it opened in 1986. He began teaching in Davis District in 1977.

Gladys Veloy Richards was named to the post of elementary reading and language arts supervisor on the central staff. She has been a teacher in the district since 1970 and has been involved in teaching inservice classes dealing with reading, writing and art.

Tom Feil will be the acting director of pupil personnel during the coming year and will become the full-time director once he completes state certification for the post. Feil has been working with the department as the assistant director.

Duckworth's move leaves a vacancy at Clearfield High and applications are being taken for that post. A new principal is expected to be chosen in the next few weeks.
