Salt Lake pitcher Willie Ambos became the Pioneer League's first five-game winner Monday as the Trappers downed Helena 7-4.

After pitching six innings and giving up four runs, Ambos was replaced by lefty Sean Johnson, who threw for 22/3 innings. Johnson was lifted with two outs in the ninth in favor of Mike Gibbons, who struck out Vilato Marrero to end a mild Brewers' threat.Trapper Greg Ehmig pounded a second-inning homer, his ninth of the season, and Marty Peralta slammed his second homer of the season in the sixth inning en route to a three-hit night. Pat Waid also tallied three hits.

The Trappers will try to take their third of four games from the Brewers in today's final game of the series. Bill Wenrick, 2-0, is scheduled to pitch for the Trappers.

Wednesday the Trappers begin a seven-game homestand that starts with Medicine Hat.
