Firefighters whipped blazes in Rich County and on the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation, but crews were keeping an eye on a 75-acre fire on Diamond Mountain in eastern Utah.

Ray Tate, of the Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center, said lightening ignited the Diamond Mountain blaze 25 miles northeast of Vernal on Sunday in a remote area where dry wood is abundant.The Red Mountain fire in Rich County fire blackened 2,000 acres of grass and sage about five miles west of Woodruff in northern Utah before it was controlled Tuesday at 6 a.m.

The fire on the Uintah-Ouray Reservation was declared controlled at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Also controlled were a 318-acre fire on Orange Mountain near Duchesne and an 82-acre blaze in Middle Canyon near Tooele.
