Two Salt Lake parks were named in honor of area residents during Salt Lake Mayor Palmer DePaulis' on-going "Name the Park" contest.

The Rose Park Tot Lot, 1069 W. Eighth North, was named Joseph Steenblik Park, after an 80-year resident of Rose Park.The Stewart Montgomery Plaza, 12th S. 15th West, was named Nellie Jack Park after a former state legislator, a prepared release said.

Steenblik was born in Salt Lake City in 1904 and has lived in the Rosepark area since 1908, contributing his efforts to building an area library and a Rosepark church.

Jack spent 24 years in the state legislature, serving in 1947 as floor leader of the House and in 1949 as chairwoman of the Labor Committee.
