The Salt Lake Small Business Administration office wants experienced business owners to volunteer consulting time for the agency's Service Corps of Retired Executives.

The national program involves nearly 13,000 men and women offering advice to entrepreneurs and those desiring to expand their businesses. In Utah, SBA district director Kent Moon said the volunteers are rewarded for their services. "Our counselors derive a lot of satisfaction from doing good for others who are just coming up the ladder."

But, he said requests for help have outstripped resources and "more counselors are needed."

Counseling and assistance for women business owners is particularly needed.

Moon said those with time to spare and the appropriate skills for business counseling should call the local SBA office.
