Former Citadel linebacker Marc Buoniconti will receive $800,000 in a settlement with the military college while a jury has exonerated the school football team physician in Buoniconti's $22.5-million negligence lawsuit.

Buoniconti broke his neck while making a tackle in an Oct. 26, 1985 game against East Tennessee State and the injury left him a quadriplegic.The jury in Charleston County Court of Common Pleas deliberated just under three hours Thursday - the 23rd day of the trial - before finding for Dr. E.K. Wallace in Buoniconti's lawsuit.
