Deseret News sports writer Doug Robinson and Deseret News photographer Ravell Call will be in Indianapolis to bring Deseret News readers daily reports from the 1988 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials.
Robinson, who won first place this year in sports writing in the Utah Sigma Delta Chi competition, not only is the Deseret News' track writing expert, he also is an excellent track performer. He won the gold medal in the 800 meter run, open division, at this year's Utah Summer Games. Last year he took the gold in the 1600 meter run. He chronicled the success of local athletes Henry Marsh, Doug Padilla and Paul Cummings at the 1984 Trials in Los Angeles and also reported on national stars Carl Lewis, Edwin Moses and Mary Decker Slaney. He'll be following the local and national performers again this year.Call, winner of the Sigma Delta Chi general excellence in photography award, and winner of three first-place awards in the recent Utah-Idaho-Spokane Associated Press annual contest, has excelled in sports photography since joining the Deseret News in 1984.
