Two people were killed and a girl was critically injured after a semitrailer truck crushed them inside a car that was making a U-turn on I-15 Wednesday night near Centerville. According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper John E. Smith, a man was driving a woman and the 9-year-old girl in a four-door Pontiac Sunbird north when he crossed a dirt median to go into the southbound lanes about 6:06 p.m. A Bekins moving van, traveling in the center southbound lane, struck the car. The car was crushed under the truck's front axle as it crossed the median, three lanes of northbound traffic and came to rest on the right shoulder. The accident occurred about 1 mile north of the Centerville exit. Emergency workers worked frantically to extricate all of the passengers but were only able to reach the girl, who was in the back seat.
