The Utah National Parks Council has awarded Silver Beavers to 48 men and women from central and southern Utah.
The award is given for exceptional service to youths by volunteer Scouters in Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting and Exploring. The Silver Beaver Award is awarded without solicitation to those chosen.Barbara Jane Adamson, American Fork. Adamson is registered as Cub Scout committee chairwoman, den leader, Scout committee member and Varsity committee member. She has a tenure of 12 years.
Steven C. Baugh, Orem, has served 19 years in Scouting, as Scouting coordinator, Varsity committee chairman, Scout committee member, council vice president for Varsity Scouting and has served as Scoutmaster at special events. He is currently registered as district committeeman in the Alpine District.
Lloyd Harris Bayles, Blanding, is currently registered as Scoutmaster of Unit No. 906 and district camping chairman in the San Juan District. He has served 18 years an adult Scouter, including troop committeeman.
Myron Dean Bennett, Holden, Millard County, is assistant district commissioner for Exploring in the Millard District. He has served 18 years in the Scouting program - as Scoutmaster, Cub Scout committeeman, Cubmaster and district commissioner.
Royal W. Blake, St. George, is Scouting coordinator in the Virgin River District. He has 17 years of tenure in Scouting, serving as assistant Scoutmaster, district trainer and Scouting coordinator.
Richard Smith Boyer Jr., Cedar City, has served 22 years, as Scoutmaster, unit commissioner, Scouting coordinator, Explorer committee chairman and district commissioner. He currently is Scoutmaster in Unit No. 345 in the Cedar Breaks District.
Gerald Carter, Provo, has served 26 years in several positions: Scoutmaster in several units, Scouting coordinator, troop committeeman, Webelos leader and assistant district commissioner.
Helen B. Clegg, Provo, is registered as district training chairwoman and as troop committee member for Troop 976. She has served more than 17 years as stake Blazer leader, Webelos leader and in various areas of the Cub Scout Program.
Merle Craig, Orem, is district Cub Scout trainer in the Utah Lake District. She has 16 years of tenure in Scouting, where she has served as Blazer Scout leader, den leader, den leader coach and in numerous training positions.
Marylene R. Dastrup, Sigurd, Sevier County, has been a Trekker leader, Guide Patrol leader, den leader, troop and pack committee chairwoman during her 30 years of service to Scouting.
Ross B. Denham, Orem, has been a supporter of Scouting for more than 40 years. He was an administrator in the Provo School District for 28 years, where he worked closely with youths and various Scouting programs.
Gary Dollar, Alpine, is registered as Scoutmaster in Unit No. 841 in the Alpine District. He has 22 years of tenure in Scouting, as unit commissioner, troop committee chairman, Scouting coordinator, district trainer, district training chairman and Scoutmaster.
Billy J. Dye, Castle Dale, Emery County, has a tenure of 19 years in service to Scouting. He has served as a committeeman and more than 10 years as Explorer adviser.
Paula P. Faddis, Lehi, has 11 years tenure in Scouting. She has served as den leader, district Cub Scout chairwoman, district committee member, troop and pack committee member and training commissioner.
Blaine E. Farnworth, Orem, has been Scoutmaster in two troops, Webelos leader, assistant Scoutmaster and presently is Scouting coordinator. He has served 22 years.
Vernile Gasser, Elk Ridge, Utah County, has served for 22 years, as Scouting coordinator, Explorer adviser, Cubmaster and assistant district chairman.
Larry M. Gibson, Highland, is an Explorer post committee chairman. Gibson has been a Varsity coach, troop committeeman and Explorer adviser during 33 years of service.
David E. Gledhill, Springville, is currently registered as a member of the council executive board. He has a 20 year tenure and has served as Scoutmaster, Varsity coach, district committeeman in Los Angeles, district chairman and merit badge counselor. He has also served as a member of the executive board, conservation chairman and as an area vice president.
Leland Harris, Orem, has a tenure of 28 years. He has served as sustaining membership enrollment chairman, advancement chairman, troop committee chairman, post committee chairman, Scouting coordinator, Venture Scout adviser, district Cub commissioner and district vice chairman.
Gary Heaton, Fredonia, Ariz., served as Scoutmaster, Scouting coordinator, Explorer chairman, district Explorer chairman and district vice chairman, during 23 years.
Joe Daniel Houston, Kanab. With a tenure of 17 years, Houston has served as Scoutmaster, troop committee chairman, Scouting coordinator, district chairman and area vice president. He is area commissioner.
Delvin D. Jenks, Alpine, is a unit commissioner and has served Scouting for 34 years as assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, troop committee chairman, Webelos leader, troop committeeman, Explorer committeeman, district executive committee member, Varsity Scout committee member and district Scouting commissioner.
Reed Jessee, Springville, has a tenure of 28 years. He has served as Scoutmaster, Blazer Scout leader, unit commissioner, district advancement chairman, Scouting coordinator and troop committee chairman.
J. Michael Johnson, Pleasant Grove, has served as Explorer leader, Scoutmaster, troop committee chairman and Scouting coordinator. He has a tenure of 23 years.
Ronald Leonard Johnson, Monticello, has held several positions during 41 years of service, including assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Venture and Explorer leader and Scouting coordinator.
Phil Jorgensen, Richfield, has given 37 years, serving as troop committeeman, Scouting coordinator, Explorer adviser and is a member of the troop committee of Unit No. 603 in the Fishlake District.
Boyd Reed Lemon, Roosevelt, Boyd has more than 16 years of service including Venture leader, Varsity Scout leader, merit badge counselor, district Explorer chairman and district Scout chairman.
Stanley G. Mackay, Orem, is assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 498 and district Varsity squad leader in the Timpanogos District. He has a tenure of 20 years, as assistant Scoutmaster, district training staff member, Scout-O-Rama staff, Scoutmaster, Wood Badge staff, unit commissioner and merit badge counselor.
Sherry McDonald, Price, is district training co-chairwoman in the Carbon District and a Webelos leader in Pack 3284. Her 14 years of service have included Roundtable staff and various district training positions.
Dave Mac McKell, American Fork, is Explorer committee chairman. He has served 33 years in Scouting, as assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, assistant district commissioner and Explorer committee member.
Blaine A. Miller, Price, has a tenure of 20 years. Currently registered as district committee member and a Webelos Leader, he has served as post committee member, district vice chairman, Scoutmaster, district Scout chairman, Order of the Arrow chapter adviser, Scouting coordinator and troop committee chairman.
Kenneth Sylvester Munford, Cedar City, has been part of Scouting for nearly 30 years. He has served as assistant district committeeman, Explorer adviser, Varsity Scout adviser, Scoutmaster, troop committeeman, Cubmaster, Cub Scout committee chairman and district Scout commissioner.
Allen Newberry, Panaca, Nev., is registered as Scoutmaster and Order of the Arrow adviser. Newberry has served for more than 23 years, as assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, chapter adviser and neighborhood commissioner.
Norman Patterson, Price, with 18 years tenure has served as Scouting coordinator, assistant Scoutmaster, Blazer Leader and is district commissioner in the Carbon District.
Ferron Jerome Peterson, Duchesne, has served Scouting for 30 years as Explorer leader, district Explorer leader, Scoutmaster, Scouting coordinator, district Scouting committee member and district vice chairman.
Richard C. Porter, Orem, is district Varsity Scout chairman in the Squaw Peak District. He has 35 years of tenure, including Scoutmaster, advancement chairman and unit commissioner.
Dennis Robertson, LaVerkin, Washington County, has served as Scout committee chairman, Scoutmaster in San Diego and LaVerkin, Scouting coordinator, Varsity coach and is district commissioner in the Virgin River District.
Russell Schow Jr., Highland, has served as Scouting coordinator, Varsity coach, Cub Scout Roundtable staff, Cub Scout trainer, Cub Scout PowWow chairman, Varsity district commissioner and Webelos leader. He has 18 years tenure.
William Ray Shaw, Lehi, has a tenure of 20 years in the Scouting program. He has served as troop committeeman, assistant Cubmaster, Cubmaster, Cub Scout committeeman, Webelos leader, Scoutmaster and unit commissioner, where he is currently registered.
Robert Shockley, Springville, is Scoutmaster in Unit 923 and a member of the executive board of Utah National Parks Council. He has served as Cubmaster, den leader, Cub Scout chairman, council Cub Scout committee, district Varsity chairman, district Explorer chairman and on the Wood Badge staff. He has 11 years tenure.
William L. Taylor, Provo, has a tenure of 28 years in Scouting. He has served as a member of the council executive board in Nevada, Scout committee member, council sustaining membership enrollment chairman in Boulder Dam Area Council, Explorer adviser, council Eagle board chairman in Maui Council, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and is Webelos Leader and Cub Scout commissioner in the Provo Cascade District.
Perry B. Thomas, American Fork, is registered as advancement chairman in Troop 18 in the Alpine District. Thomas has served for 19 years as pack committeeman, Scoutmaster, Roundtable commissioner, Scouting coordinator, Scout committee member and tri-ward advancement chairman.
Peggy L. Tidwell, Mount Pleasant, Sanpete County, has been serving Scouting for 14 years in two packs and two districts. She has served as a den leader, den leader coach, council activities committee member and district program chairwoman.
Rose Tidwell, Helper, has devoted 18 years to the Scouting program. She has served as den leader, Webelos leader, den leader coach, Cub Scout training chairwoman, assistant day camp program director and is registered as den leader coach and Cub Scout training chairwoman.
Margo B. Trotter, Salem, Utah County, has served Scouting 17 years, as Blazer Scout leader, den leader coach, council Scouting committee member and Utah National Parks Council executive board member.
George S. Van Dewater, is Cubmaster in Pack 3894. He has 21 years tenure in Scouting, as assistant Scoutmaster in Tennessee, camp commissioner, Cubmaster, Cub Scout day camp director, unit commissioner and Cubmaster in various areas.
Mike Weber, Vernal, has served as Explorer adviser, Varsity unit commissioner, Explorer unit commissioner, district commissioner, assistant district chairman, Boy Scout training chairman, Varsity Roundtable commissioner and Troop Committee Chairman. He is registered as assistant Scoutmaster and has 22 years of tenure.
John C. Willie, St. George, has served more than 25 years in Scouting, as Scouting coordinator in the Lake Arrowhead District, Explorer adviser, assistant Scoutmaster, district advancement chairman, district committeeman and is district Explorer chairman.
