A charge of second degree murder has been filed against Taniela P. Fangupo in connection with a July 9 stabbing at 1291 Iola Ave.
Arraignment on the first-degree felony has not been set in 3rd Circuit Court.Fangupo, 20, 755 W. Jeremy, is charged in connection with the stabbing death of Mana Hautau.
Hautau was attending a party at 1291 Iola Ave. when an altercation occurred. A police report said witnesses saw Hautau fighting with another man and that they saw Hautau fall to the floor with blood on his chest.
Fangupo was arrested a short time later a few blocks from the scene. The complaint alleges that Fangupo stabbed Hautau in the chest in retaliation for an altercation that occurred late Saturday night.
Hautau was taken to LDS Hospital where he died of the stabbing wounds about 7 a.m. Sunday.
Fangupo is being held in the Salt Lake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
