Dr. Emil Hanson of Weber State College has received the Presidential Meritorious Service Award from the Utah Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
The award, the highest given by that organization, recognizes a "breadth and depth of service, and his contributions to the work of services to students."
Hanson, assistant vice president of administrative services at WSC, has 21 years of experience in the field of admissions and graduation. He has worked with students at the secondary and higher education levels and is currently Dean of Student Administrative Services at the college.
He is credited with establishing the administrative system for student services at Weber State, which is recognized as one of the outstanding programs of the state.
"He has a clear sense of right and wrong and stands firm in defense of what he believes is best for the students and the institution. Over the years he has probably done as much with less money and a limited staff than anyone in the Utah system," states his award.
Hanson served as president of the Utah Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and is a member of the Utah ACT Council and the statewide SIS Committee. He has numerous publications to his credit including the first "Transfer Articulation Guide for Business" written for the state in 1984-85 and published by both the State Board of Regents and the Utah Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
