Salt Lake Mayor Palmer DePaulis has yet to announce his choice from a list of four finalists for Salt Lake City police chief to replace former Chief E.L. "Bud" Willoughby, who retired in May citing health complications.

DePaulis said he expects to announce the new chief by Friday. The final candidates are acting Chief Ed Johnson; Col. Mike Chabries, Utah Highway Patrol superintendent; Terry Knowles, former special agent in charge of Salt Lake City's FBI office and now head of the FBI's Sacramento, Calif., office; and Newport News Police Chief Jay A.
