A Kearns man has been charged with kidnapping an 18-year-old Roy woman July 4 and raping her at gunpoint several times before leaving with her purse early July 5.

Kirk W. Dall, 21, 4960 S. 4980 West, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, all first-degree felonies, according to a complaint filed in 3rd Circuit Court.

The woman was walking near 17th S. State about 10 p.m. July 4 when a man pulled up next to her in a car, pointed a gun at her and forced her into his car.

The man then handcuffed her and drove to Monroc Gravel Pit, 6200 S. 51st West, where he sexually assaulted her several times before handcuffing her to a steel structure and walking away. The man returned three hours later and moved her to an underground tunnel where he again handcuffed her and left. Police reports said she was able to break the handcuffs and flag down a passing sheriff's deputy about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
