North Korea has rejected as nothing new the proposals of President Roh Tae-woo of South Korea for improving relations between the two nations, the north's official news agency said Tuesday.

Roh on Thursday unveiled a plan to ease his nation's bitter confrontation with the communist north and pave the way for peaceful reunification of the divided peninsula.

"This is nothing new and is not worth examination," the Korean Central News Agency quoted a statement issued by North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland as saying.
